Heather Pisani

As a polio survivor it is my very great pleasure to serve on the Board of Post Polio Victoria, a group charged with advocating and supporting persons who have survived polio myelitis and are now dealing with the Long Term Effects of Polio and Post Polio Syndrome. Like many of us, I was blessed to be able to have a career in the time between the original diagnosis and treatment and the subsequent diagnosis of Late Effects of Polio and Post Polio Syndrome. I am a  retired Registered Nurse and Midwife for over 45 years specialising in Intensive Care and Neuroscience Nursing. My professional life was spent in Intensive Care Units and Neuroscience Units and then managing and teaching an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing Program and a Post Graduate Neuroscience Program. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree, Masters and Doctoral Degree in Education from the University of Melbourne. I retired from work 10 years ago and am enjoying having the time to immerse myself in my hobbies and my volunteering activities.
