Dr. Stephen de Graaff is a Past President of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians). He is Director of Pain Services and Senior Rehabilitation Physician at Epworth Healthcare. He is a Fellow of the AFRM (RACP) and a Founding Member of the Rehabilitation Society of Australia and New Zealand (RMSANZ).
His areas of research interest include Stroke Rehabilitation, Spasticity Management, Pain Management, Post-Polio Sequelae & Continuing Professional Development. He has presented at both national and international meetings and co-authored a number of papers in these domains and currently is involved in a number of research projects particularly in spasticity management and pain management.
Stephen is married to Cathy (31 years) and they have a daughter and 2 sons- all adults. From his first marriage he has a daughter who is the proud mother of his 2 grandsons.
He grew up in Thomastown, went to Christian Brothers College (CBC ) Parade Bundoora and Monash University where he obtained his medical degree
Prior to becoming a doctor he played Australian Rules Football and cricket competitively and then moved on to running and team triathlons.
As he matures and approaches retirement his desire to study history grows.
He remains on a number of educational bodies and boards.

It is with immense pride that we know how much Dr. de Graaff will help us in our advocacy issues for polio survivors. Many of us have personal experience of being cared for by him. Stephen’s bio speaks volumes of his diverse and extensive knowledge, skills, and ability. He will bring all of this and so much more to the role. We are extremely fortunate to have his support.
